On Wednesday, February 21, 2018, the Majestic Theater and the St. Thomas More Society teamed up to raise money for local students by selling tickets to a final dress rehearsal of “Outside Mullingar.” Half of all ticket sales were donated to the Hon. Kent B. Smith Scholarship Fund, which is administered by the St. Thomas More Society.</>

The St. Thomas More Society is a group of western Massachusetts Catholic lawyers whose mission is “to foster and promote high ethical and moral principles and the pursuit of truth in the legal profession and the administration of justice generally and in the community of Catholic lawyers, judges and legal associates particularly.”

Attorney Michael G. McDonough, of Egan, Flanagan and Cohen, was recently named the Director of the St. Thomas More Society. Attorney McDonough and other volunteers from the St. Thomas More Society worked with Danny Eaton, of the Majestic Theater, to raise money for the scholarship fund. This is the seventh year that the Majestic Theater has partnered with the St. Thomas More Society.

The Hon. Kent B. Smith Scholarship Fund was founded by the St. Thomas More Society in 2012 for the purpose of providing financial assistance to undergraduate and graduate students who are residents of Hampden, Hampshire, and Franklin Counties of Massachusetts and who are majoring in pre-law studies, legal studies, or criminal justice. The Scholarship Fund seeks academically qualified students of good moral character whose aspirations for advanced education are hampered by severe financial constraints.

Western Massachusetts students can learn more about scholarship opportunities through the St. Thomas More Society and may access an application at the St. Thomas More Society’s website.
